Crazy Week (Friday) - Backwards Day!
And the final day of "Crazy Week" at school was "Backwards Day." Matt chose his "Back to the Future" shirt (get it? backwards, Back to the Future? Clever, isn't he?!).
He was quite the busy-body this morning, so I only got a few shots from the side and back, so here they are:
When I got to school I noticed that some kids had their clothes not only on backwards, but also inside out. D'oh, why didn't I think of that?!

Crazy Week (Thursday) - Crazy Hat Day!
Thursday at school was "Crazy Hat Day" as part of "Crazy Week." Carter wore his octopus hat (a gift from Daddy that I wrote about a while ago - link takes you to the post) and I'd say he looked the cutest in the whole class!
He didn't want to wear it the correct way (eyes in the front), so in these pics I asked him to move the legs so I could see his face:

Crazy Week (Wednesday) - Rainbow Day!
And the "Crazy Week" fun at school continues...
Wednesday was "Rainbow Day" and Carter was dressed to the nines! I took a couple pics right before school (and he was playing with a fake spiderweb in a few shots, as we're taking down the Halloween decor this week):
And the cooler was pretty exciting too:
The pants are actually part of a PJ set (another great hand-me-down from Amelia - THANKS!) and they were perhaps THE most awesome rainbow pants anyone could ask for! Don't you agree?
I think we should have a Crazy Week at the office too, eh? How fun would that be?!

Crazy Week (Monday) - Pajama Day!
Carter's school is having "Crazy Week" this week, because, well, they felt like it! So far, the kids and teachers have been all out CRAZY in support of the silliness. Day 1 (Monday) was actually Halloween and to celebrate it in conjunction with "Pajama Day," I decked Carter out in his glow-in-the-dark skeleton PJs (a super awesome pass down from Amelia - THANKS!).
I took his photo before school and asked him to say, "Happy Halloween" and here's what I got:

2011 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer
Fun little post about my BIG support of the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event that is sponsored by the American Cancer Society here in New Mexico. This year's walk was held on one of the windiest days ever here in Albuquerque and it was cold, cold, cold. But the Greenies didn't let that stop 'em! We braved the cold and bundled, bundled up!
Happy to report that I was the TOP FUNDRAISER (!!!!) in New Mexico (up until the day before, when someone very, very generous made a giant donation to someone other than me and knocked me off my top pedestal)! I turned in almost $3000 this year and I think I deserve a huge pat on the back, as do all of my sponsors! *blushes

Fancy Pants
The Greenie's spent a much-needed night out with the adults a week or so back when we attended the annual Albuquerque Mayor's Charity Ball. The Mayor's wife (I guess that would be the "First Lady" right?) hosts the Ball to support ~5 local charities. It's a really great cause and I'm always happy that my company supports it.
Carter stayed home with Hannah (co-worker's kid who is raising money to attend a vet program at Cornell this summer). We were only happy to help support her education and didn't mind that Carter was able to hang out with a young, blond gal (of which he talked about CONSTANTLY the day after...)!
Anywho, I tend to attend several of theses types of events each year with my work and I have a rule about NOT wearing black... Mainly because A) I already own 15 black dresses and B) it's easier to find me if I'm wearing something brightly colored (right Matt?).
So here's a shot of the gang in all of our fancy pants (click to enlarge) and me in my yellow dress:

SUPER COLD, er, BOWL!
Yes folks, the Super Bowl is just around the corner. And I heard them say on the radio that the last thing the Super Bowl planners want to hear is the phrase "inclement weather"...
Well let me tell you, folks, we've got some inclement weather. You've got some inclement weather. Folks all across the US are getting inclement weather. And to sum of my feeling toward inclement weather, it's this:
SNOW AND ALL COLD WEATHER DAYS SUCK!
Ok, there, I said it. Pheww, I feel better now! :)
But really, it was seriously cold in Albuquerque today. Our high temp was NINE degrees F. NINE. That. Is. Cold. When I woke up this morning it was minus two. When I dropped Carter off at school, it was two degrees. When I picked Carter up from school, it was seven.
Take me to Florida. Now.
But I will say something positive about this craptastic weather. Bundling up Carter makes him extra adorable, see (and the sweater is from Amelia, no way do I have that good of a fashion sense...):

And Carter saying "Smile!" (which means bare your teeth and stick out your tongue):
And we're also getting ready to watch the Super Bowl this Sunday with some pals. We've missed their party for the last 2 years because one of the Greenies has always been sick (and a few of the attendees have small kids, so I don't want to bring the germy bug with us...).
We've been testing out a few snacks and Carter's been the biggest fan of Spinach Dip. He doesn't like to eat the chips, but he sure likes the dip, especially the ooey-gooey cheese:
And the rockin' plaid pants - another hand-me-down from Amelia, that girl has style!

And finally, my spinachy-cheesy covered, smiley boy:
Gotta love him, eh? Makes me smile every single day!
Stay warm out there and enjoy the cold if that's your thing. [And if it IS, you might consider getting a psych exam...ahem...]

Time Out (for Brussels Sprouts)!
This will be a completely random post, something I'm fond of doing every now and then... And well, it's MY blog, so I can do whatever I want. So there! :)
I'll start with a few cute photos of Carter trying on Daddy's shoes. He was quite proud of himself for being able to "walk" (which was more of a shuffle) in them:
"Bravo!" as Carter says!
Next up, a few silly photos of Carter running around with the stalk after I pulled all of the Brussels sprouts off for dinner. Both him and Matt are Brussels sprouts avoiders (fine with me, more for ME!), but Carter was keen on helping pull them off and put them in the pot. Actually, he had more fun running around with the stalk afterward. See?

Maybe it's edible?
Nah, yukky. It's trash, here Mommy:
And the next few photos include Carter's "time-out" timer (just a basic kitchen timer - he gets one minute for bad behavior and has to sit in his time-out chair - or "the thinking chair" as they call it at school - and then he has to say "sorry" and give a hug once the minute it up). Anyway, he climbed up on the furniture and swiped the timer the other day. He was quite proud of his accomplishment and was quite willing to "smile" when I asked him to for the camera:
And I'll end with one of my favorite shots of the year:

Baby, It's Cold Outside!
As the temps drop to the single digits here in Albuquerque (which, luckily, is NOT a common occurrence for us!), we've been bundling up and spending some quality Greenie time inside the house. And to prevent the heating bill from being totally outrageous, we've all be wearing a few extra layers to keep warm.
Carter has been keen on wearing his stocking hat and mittens around the house (which is adorable, I tell ya!). You'd think the loss of dexterity would prevent him from causing as much mischief??? Nah...
Here he is going to town on UN-organizing the Tupperware cabinet:
Apparently we have too many items IN the cabinet that they need to be moved OUT...
Lucky for us, he was able to reach WAY into the back and get everything out...
Since it's been so cold, we decided to make my dad's infamous Summer Sausage recipe. It requires the oven to be on for over 6 hours, so we don't make it that much in the summer. However, we really didn't mind heating up the house this month. Here's a goofy picture of Matt forming the sausage loaves (and is it just me, or does he look a little psychotic?!):
Ahh, the finished product - goes great with a stone-ground mustard and those little tiny rye breads:
These next photos were taken on the day that we put up the Christmas tree (yes, a post is coming about the Great Greenie Christmas Extravaganza...I'm just behind...). Matt was running in and out to the shed to gather the Christmas decor, so Carter and I were doing our part by staying bundled up inside (thanks, dear!).
The following pics are in sequence and I've kept them this way to show my readers just how hard it is to capture a photo of a busy, busy toddler (and can you believe it?! He's 22 months old today!!!). Anyway, if you ignore the views of our messy house, here I've tried to follow him around the bottom floor of our house to capture just ONE good photo of him in his adorable hat and mittens:
Let the, ahem, race begin - living room:
Might as well stop for a little dancing... Why not tap dance in Mommy's TV tray?
Whoops, I think the mittens are coming off... Too slow, Mommy!
Maybe not...
Hurry up, I'm leaving the living room:
And around the corner he goes...
And we made it all the way around the house and back to the kitchen (to sit on the box of Christmas goodies that Daddy just brought in):
Ok, Mommy, here, I'll sit still for 3 seconds:
And make a goofy face...
And then run away to the living room play with my toys...
Well, folks, there you have it. Carter's a busy, busy boy these days. While he's not busy running around, he's definitely busy chatting up a storm. Was thinking for one of these posts I'd write down all the words he knows. Some of our recent favorites: "Cool!" "Aww man!" and "Cookie?" (thanks Uncle John and Stephanie for sending us 40 pounds of Christmas cookies... We blame you for adding this word to his vocabulary! I think Carter ate as many as we did! Good parenting, I know, I know...) :)
Hope that you're staying warm and enjoying time with your family too!
