Sleepyhead (in Boots)

I couldn't resist snapping a photo of my favorite sleepyhead last night.  Carter insisted on wearing his slipper boots (from Liam - thanks Amelia!) to bed.  After he was snoozing, I snapped this photo of him sleeping.

Paired with his monkey PJs - that don't match...top from a boys set, bottom from a girls set - his Darth Vader pillow, Spiderman, Captain America sheets, Thomas the Train, and blanket from Aunt Katrina, he certainly looks adorable!

Hope you sleep this peacefully too!

Just Like Mike

...Michael Jordan that is! Remember those awesome commercials for Nike shoes that had Michael Jordan jumping, like, 400 feet in the air? Well, I think Carter is trying to tell us something...

I can't quite put my finger on it... Maybe these photos will hold some clue...
Oh yeah, the kid's a nut... Jumping in the crib is his new favorite past time! Couple short videos of the action below.

Part 1:

Part 2:

Oh yeah, that kid gets some SERIOUS air!! Looks like he's got the makings of a basketball player (for the Jayhawks, of course...)!

Seriously behind on blogging, but I couldn't resist posting these tonight!

The Monkey Horde

So Carter is fixin' to get his last few teeth in and has been a bit of a crankapotamus lately. We're blessed that he's pretty much ALWAYS happy, so it's been a tad rough dealing with his fussiness.

Anyway, seemed like the only thing to help ease his frustrations the other night was to let him "play" with every single monkey off of his shelf. Matt was trying to give him a little milk before bedtime and he wasn't having it... Instead, he wanted the monkey horde:
And slowly, one at a time, he picked off each monkey and tossed them to the floor:
Poor little Curious George:
And another one bites the dust:
Until the horde was no more:
Happy to report that those couple of molars are poking through and maybe, just maybe we're past the rough spot. Let's hope the remaining few teeth come through like lightning!

Hope you have a fantastic week!

Diaper Challenge

So Carter has become a REALLY squirmy kid...ESPECIALLY when he's getting his diaper changed... The days of the "quick-change artist" are over and it seems it takes two of us to wrangle him out of his dirty diaper and into a new one. Alas, we'll stay the course and keep him in dry pants...but it won't be easy!

Here's an exciting video that demonstrates what we're dealing with now on a daily basis. I present to you, Mr. Squirmy Monkey Pants (and check out the calm-to-squirmy reaction time...):

Prior to Carter being decked out in his monkey PJ's, here are a few photos between wardrobe changes...and the green block is one of his most favorite toys (from a set of four, thanks Juliette)! Sitting up and sitting proud:
Pretty happy with himself here:
A little foreshadowing for Saturday night (next post...), the I-might-be-teething-look:
We all should be a little concerned, eh?
And, finally, an up-close shot that I thought was pretty telling of Carter....always going on and on and on (wonder where he gets his chatterboxiness, hrmmm?):

Anywho, one more post for the evening and then I'm hittin' the sack!

An August of Adventures

Been a while since I posted, so this one will contain some randomness from the month of August...

Already posted about some travels, but the good news is, I think my jet-setter days are over (until October...)! August was exciting around the Greenie house, so let's get to it!

Up first, the Greenfelder Luau...Had a great time with our friends, co-workers, and neighbors! Biggest turn-out yet for a Greenfelder party! Quick snap-shot from the "Ugliest Hawaiian Shirt Contest" (and no, my KU shirt doesn't qualify - but that KSU one sure does!!):
Congrats to our winners, especially for the hideous "tacky tourist" ensemble!
Then there was the "Limbo Contest"...Matt tried his best, but not quite as flexible as the under-12 crowd... Moving right along... Carter has really perfected the "look at me roll to my belly" maneuver and thinks he's just hilarious when he's peeking out over the playpen:
It's also quite hilarious to him when he rolls over when you're changing up his diaper (this one just after bath time):
And finally, we've moved on to the size 12-month jammies, and here's a quick pic in the "spaceship" set:

Hope everyone is doing well and I'll write more when we pass the 6-month mark (next week! ahhhh!).

Thing 3?

Well, tomorrow is Carter's first day at the daycare (well, technically it's a "Learning Center"). *sniff* He'll be fine, I know...it's just going to be hard on mommy :( And well, just wait until they realize that he doesn't really take naps any longer than 20 minutes during the day! Hehehe!

To perk myself up, I thought I'd put up some funny photos of Carter in his Dr. Seuss PJ's (from our pal, Amelia...thanks!). Coincidence, he was born on Dr. Seuss's birthday (March 2), so for these pics, I call him: "Thing 3"... Here's the "Busted!" look:

Followed by the "Look at my back-side" look:

And finally, the "Leave me alone!" look (for the record, he is very rarely fussy, so good time to capture it!):

Anyway, we're still working on his core strength and he's nearly to the point of rolling over (oh no!). While doing some "tummy time," Matt captured this shot...pretty cute! Also, doc says his eyes will most likely stay blue, so check out his gaze! Those baby blues look even brighter when he's outside!

Hope you're enjoying the new blog!
