What's in the Drawer?

In the "brown room" (as we like to call it, as opposed to the "blue room"), Carter has found the end tables to be QUITE a hit! You see, they're just about his height and have these fantastically noisy drawer pulls on them. Matt and I have to keep a close eye on him, because he often gets overly-excited and will fall and bonk his head on the wood...

Anyway, took a few shots of him this weekend playing around with them. And I only let him go crazy with the furniture because he was slowly getting over a virus. Not just ANY virus, but the heinous 104F-and-higher-fever-with-gnarly-sore-throat-pustules-followed-by-severe-all-over-body-rash virus. All a part of the "enterovirus family" symptoms, which I guess it's pretty common in little dudes, so Dr. R. says.

And our guy was no exception to experiencing the full list of symptoms. Had a couple nights where his fever spiked up over 104F and got his parents all in a tizzy (ER?! Tylenol?! Yikes!!!). The following photos were taken just as the rash was starting to show up (and let me tell you, it was gnarly - all over his chest, back, arms, legs, face, and really-really-really bad on his rear end...thus requiring the $40/tube butt cream...yay...). But he was a total trooper and kept his good disposition through pretty much the whole virus-fighting-period.

We lost quite a bit of sleep (and vacation time...), but happy to report that the virus phase has passed, he's back to eating/drinking normally, and most importantly, back to sleeping through the night!

Pheww. Hate it when our little guy is sick. Maybe it'll be better when he's a bit older and can tell us his "throat" (as he points to his knee) hurts. [That's a funny story from Amelia's son, thought I'd use it here as it's quite apropos!]

Ok, those photos - here's Carter getting his groove on with the end tables:
"What's in HERE, Mommy?":
"Keep tugging, kid, you'll get in there soon enough!":
Here's to a healthy, happy rest of the month!
